The Evolution of Event Venues: What That Means for Brands
Over the last several years, the way we think about event spaces has changed dramatically. From traditional hotel ballrooms to massive stadiums, venues are no longer just a place to gather—they’re a core part of the brand experience. At Cornerstone, we’ve seen this evolution firsthand over our 33+ years of experience in the industry, and we believe understanding these trends is key for brands looking to connect with their communities in meaningful ways.
Traditional Venues: Hotels and Convention Centers
For decades, hotel venues have been the go-to solution for events under 2,000 people. These spaces work well for general sessions, keynotes, and breakout rooms where attendees can dive into specific topics. They’re tried-and-true and still very much viable, providing a structured, professional environment that’s familiar to attendees.
As events grew larger, a hybrid of hotels and convention or expo centers became common for groups over 2,000. These venues combine general sessions with networking, education, and often entertainment. Historically, brands would hire A-list talent for concerts or celebration nights and close events by sharing a forward-looking vision—like Adobe’s “Sneaks,” showcasing future technology to their community.
Large-Scale Venues: Arenas and Stadiums
Over the past decade, we’ve also seen an increase in large-scale, international events held in arenas and stadiums. These venues accommodate tens of thousands of attendees and often represent communities from dozens of countries. Events in these spaces aren’t just bigger—they’re more complex. Since these venues are primarily reserved for sporting or concerts, move-in times are short, production logistics are challenging, and traditional corporate event models don’t always fit.
To meet these demands, Cornerstone adapted by expanding our capabilities with production trucks, advanced technology, and streamlined operations, allowing us to execute flawless events in high-pressure environments.
Example: Young Living 25 Years Young
For Young Living’s 25 Years Young celebration, an event welcoming more than 50,000 attendees from over 50 countries, we produced a large-scale, multi-faceted experience that culminated in a ceremony at Rice-Eccles Stadium. Executing at that scale required seamless translation, rapid setup and teardown, and immersive moments designed to feel personal, even in a stadium setting.

Hybrid and Experiential Spaces
While large venues and traditional hotels remain important, the future is trending toward smaller, more intimate, and highly flexible spaces. Multi-use venues can serve both corporate and lifestyle events, offering brands the ability to create immersive experiences that resonate on a personal level.
Example: Land Rover Destination Defender West
We transform unconventional spaces into the perfect venue for brands like Land Rover, which hosted a 3,000-person community event celebrating not just vehicles, but the lifestyle they enable. We shaped an untouched equestrian space into an event where attendees experienced live music, storytelling, interactions with partner brands, high-end award ceremonies, and numerous activations creating a holistic, immersive brand experience.

Trends Shaping the Future of Venues
- Community Over Capacity: More brands are capping event sizes to create meaningful interactions and truly educate and inspire attendees.
- Technology Integration: Hybrid platforms allow intimate experiences to reach far beyond the room. Streaming, ticketing, and interactive tools have become essential.
- Lifestyle Alignment: Events increasingly reflect the values, interests, and lifestyles of the audience, not just the brand itself. Music, outdoor activities, and immersive storytelling are now central to the experience.
At Cornerstone, we’ve been ahead of these trends for years, bridging the gap between traditional events, large-scale spectacles, and intimate, experiential gatherings. We guide brands in understanding venues, technology, and audience engagement, helping them create experiences that inspire, connect, and leave a lasting impact.
The evolution of event venues isn’t just about space—it’s about creating meaningful experiences. From hotel ballrooms to stadiums, from hybrid setups to private lifestyle venues, every choice matters. The brands that succeed in the future are those that see venues not just as a place to host people, but as a platform to tell their story, connect with their community, and inspire action.
